Was Gohan SSJ2 vs Dabura?

this is like asking if he was ssj2 in movie 10 against broly.

in the anime no sparks where seen (but then again toei, forgot to add those a lot of times even with ssj3 goku)

i believe he was using ssj2 against dabura, but because he was rusty and a lot weaker then 7 years ago. he fought evenly with dabura who was as strong as perfect cell.

Someone find the manga poses and it's settled.

yeah no sparks. i think this will settle it.

you know that last one didn't make sense in regard to piccolo and krillin

they also got hit on their clothes. and still their body became stone

ah well. gohan had main character shield

good old plot armor

only batman can beat that with preptime

I think, the sparks have been forgotten.

By the way Dabura = Cell. If Gohan was only SSJ, Dabura could have dominated Gohan easily.

i dont think toriyama is sloppy. he wouldnt forget a thing like that. nowhere else in the manga is there a ssj2 with no lightning. gohan had lightning at the tournament, just a few chapters before. and two chapters later, goku and vegeta both have sparks.

Well, if Dabura = Perfect Cell, then Gohan = SSj. SSj2 Gohan, even weakened because of not training, -rapes- perfect cell.

If Dabura = Super Perfect Cell, then Gohan = SSj2. This is true to the above, but in reverse. Super Perfect Cell rapes a weakened SSj Gohan.

dabura was just playing around. so he can still = super perfect cell and gohan can still = ssj.

Reading it, I'd say he may have been holding back a fair amount (say, 10ish, 20% tops) but he most certainly wasn't holding back enough to be SPC pretending to be PC.

ssj2 goku vs majin vs comes to mind. i think they also lacked lightning a few times.

it was more obvious in the anime

the anime is always forgetting the lightning.

at least goku going ssj for the first time, caused real lightning
broly going lssj caused quite a thunderstorm, and made the planet shake.

It's hard to say.

Vegeta said, "let's see how well this Dabura does against a super saiyan." This would suggest that Gohan is only in SSJ state. Given also there is no lightning.

But I personaly believe that they forgot to add that effect in, maybe not against Dabura, but when Gohan attacked Buu's Egg, I think he was supposed to be SSJ2. Because when he goes SSJ2 at the WMAT and against Bojack, we see the effect where the golden light bursts through the ground. This happens when he powers up to attack Buu's Egg.

But it's never really stated, and considering in both the fight with Dabura, Broly and Buu, he gets pwned, so, for Gohan's benefit, let's say he was in regular SSJ

yeah considering the way he cant keep up with dabura and is pwned easily by buu, i think hes fpssj. he maxes out his ssj1 powers against buu's egg as seen by him powering up.
